Bentham in the Community: the Bentham Walk
Monday, May 23, 2011 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (BST)
London, United Kingdom
Join Professor Philip Schofield, Director of the Bentham Project, on a guided walk around Jeremy Bentham's London. Visit Westminster School where Bentham attended as a child; St James's Park where he went jogging; Queen Anne's Gate where he lived when he was alive; and UCL where he lives now he's dead. At the end of the walk toast Jeremy at the Jeremy Bentham pub.
Meet at Westminster Abbey (Dean's Yard at Westminster Abbey Shop) at 7pm.
Please be advised that this walk includes a ride on the London Underground. Please bring your Oyster card or a single fare with you.
This event is run by the Bentham Project as part of Bentham in the Community: an exciting new public engagement initiative to bring together academic and amateur historians and raise awareness of the life and work of Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832). Funded by a UCL Beacon Bursary for public engagement, the project consists of three events aimed at situating UCL more firmly within the local community. The events will take place in May during the Historical Association's Local History Month.
